Gym Fitness for Women

Do members of Congress have memberships at health clubs, which we, the taxpayers pay for?

I'd like to learn specifics about this. Just heard this a.m. on NPR that Public Parks are having to close one day a week due to budget cutbacks, I beleive the average working family deserves to have a park open on their possibly only day off....if we are footing the bill for Congress to have private health club memberships I'd like to see what the general public thinks about it, and hey, here's a novel concept, put it to a vote!

Public Comments

  1. just the democrats, and its a membership thats with all the perks, that they never use.its make them feel good about themselves that they have a membership
  2. Good question. In addition to that I often wonder how Blackwater personnel are medivaced out of Iraq. Are they flown out by our tax paid military?
  3. Yes. Obama wants to make you a member.
  4. the congressmen have their own private health club..at least they did years ago .I have not seen news of it in a long time.they still should have it..I cannot see them removing a perk like that... The parks do not have to be closed..the people can pick up after themsevles ..remind the ones who do not....Americans are spoiled..They are lazy ,irresponsible but they will learn to change...Or else
  5. Both the House and Senate have gyms for members that are located in the House and Senate office buildings. The members pay an annual fee to support it but that fee does not cover the complete costs. However, since obesity is now a public health crisis, I am not against any employer providing workout facilities for people to exercise.
