How much does it cost to use the fitness/gym facility at a local YMCA?
Does anyone have a gym/fitness center membership to YMCA? I need a gym membership and I heard it is cheaper to go to a local YMCA. Anyone know how much they are charging per month and if they require you to sign a contract? I'm just looking for a one-facility use, standard fitness center membership. This is for the San Jose/South Bay Area in California.

- I know you can get a monthly membership. I'm not sure if the cost is standard across the US, but in PA a student membership is $35/month and a non-student is $50/month.
- i forget go to like ymca.com or sumtin but its pretty expensive
- Usually runs about 45.00 per month
- It's pretty expensive good work though the first step is getting the membership. Now remember not to be wasting the money!
- I know here it is like $40 a month and $300 and something a year. But they also have a discounted program (for those who cant afford the full membership). You should your local YMCA if they have something like that.
- We have the family membership to the Y & it cost about $54.00 a month for all of us.My husband & I. (the kids are included free) We had to sign a one year contract. After that we can cancel. Not sure how much one person would cost. You'll have to call & ask. They do have classes you can take also (aerobics,swim,etc.)...but those cost extra. Check around...a fitness center might be cheaper. Good luck.
- www.ymca.net will show you the national website. Mine is $36 for a single membership. I am not a student. They're a little more than gym memberships because they offer more programs and facilities.
- never go to the YMCA... or atleast go but do not use their pools.. i did and it must have been bacteria filled or overyly chloronized but i almost had to go to the hospital from the redness and impaired vision in my eyes.. i coouldnyt see!! i it was horrible... so beware!!
