Where to buy Malibu Pilates? Apparently my mom wants a Malibu Pilates chair for Christmas? My dad told me to find where to buy one, which, so far, I've failed at. my weight is 145 and i wanna get down to 110 before my trip what is the best diet to go on? i would like to know about a diet that can make me loose weight fast . i'm going to work out to but i need some kind of weight watcher food. i need to eat right while i work out. i've been doing this work out by pilates and it's called the bean and its a chair and you do work outs on it. i'm sure people has seen it on tv because thats where i found out about it. i put all the weight on with each of my three kids. i call my fat baby fat and i want it gone so bad. so please any helpful weight loss tips would be really great. my husband and i are going to the bahamas and i want to wear a bikini. thankful i don't have stretch marks other wise i would have to find a way to get rid of those to.
Back pain... Should I take pilates or yoga? I've injured my back several times and it hurts when I sit for a long time or an uncomfortable chair or if I shift or twist it quickly... Which would be alleviate the pain more effectively?
Odd question, but...sometimes when I roll back (like doing Pilates), my butt/tailbone hurts? Not if I sit in a chair or anything, just if I sit back on it too far or roll back, like "rolling like a ball" when you do Pilates. Not sure if it's TMI...but if I feel up by the tailbone/top of my butt, where the, erm, cheeks kinds of meet, you know, there's like...a lump? Or a large piece of skin that goes across or something? It's more left-oriented. Thing is, I don't remember when this started...I never really rolled back or anything (no real reason to) when I was little, or never really paid attention, so this has really been going on maybe 3-5 years, that I remember? I just thought it normal at the time, I guess. It's not like a sharp pain, just a kind of achy one, and like I said, only happens when I roll back (I do use a mat when I exercise, but same result). Maybe it's from falling years ago, and I don't really remember it? I was in beginners ice skating around then, so even if I did fall, it wouldn't be that hard. It wouldn't make sense for it to have happened afterwards, because it started back then. I'm so confused...

What is the most efficient way to begin practicing Pilates? Recently, I've taken up an interest in Pilates. I love that it not only provides a workout, but also that its therapeutic and stresses the importance of focusing, breathing techniques and circulation. The only other exercise that provided those things and got me in the best shape of my life was when I was a swimmer in high school and when I swam in the military (I don't have the feet for running). However, I don't have a pool now and the health club pools are expensive and seasonal. Anyway, back to pilates. My fiance is not comfortable with the price of pilates studios or with the price of the equipment. I don't feel comfortable with simply getting a video because this is all new to me and I want to take it seriously and be properly trained. Does the less expensive equipment (such as the chairs and barrels) provide similar benefits as the reformer, trapeze and "cadillac"? Can someone get the same benefits without any equipment? Are the videos just as good? I need some educated direction :) Thank you!
Any cures to a Coccyx/tailbone injury/pain? I have had pain now for over 3 months, I have no idea how it started but think it may be from sitting for long periods of time and putting strain/slouching in my chair for hours at work. I have seen a Physiotherapist six times now and started a few new things such as pilates, swimming and walking, these may/may not have helped. Any info/cures?
I Need Help Finishing A Feminine Acronym!? I'm a fitness instructor at a new women's fitness center and we're trying to come up with a positive, yet sexy descriptive acronym that best describes who we are and what we do. Just for reference, our facility is called ESTEEM Fitness and we teach pole dancing, chair dancing, pilates, boxing, Zumba, personal training and more. We're a very close-knit family and love our clients very much. I'm having some trouble with the "M" part. So far, I have... Exceptionally Strong Team Empowering and Encouraging M... ...and that's all I could come up with! Any ideas or tweaks would be helpful, particularly in the "M" department. Remember, we're a women's fitness center so please suggest feminine ideas. Thanks! :)
Would you change anything about my work out plan? Keeping in mind that I am a Mama of two and also work full time so I can't really add any additional work outs...is this a healthy balance of activities or would you change anything. I work out 4 days a week: Day 1: Treadmill jogging/running 20 minutes, elliptical 10 minutes, 12x2 reps for biceps, shoulders and triceps, ab work Day 2: Advanced pilates 1 hour, 15 min run Day 3: 1 or 2 mile run, abs, shoulders, biceps, triceps, gluts (weight lifting sessions usually takes 60 mins or so) Day 4: 1 hour of Zumba, 20-30 mins of ab works and arms Weight lifting is done with free weights and pilates moves (like pelvic thrusts, leg lifts, chair sits, etc.) Anything I should be doing differently? I just want to be healthy overall, my target areas are defining my abs, getting leaner arms and leaner thighs. Thank you for your unsolicited concern regarding my family. I work out after my children go to bed and while my husband is doing his work outs. I don't really see how that is related to my question. It probably takes closer to 45 minutes, I do a variety of exercises for each area. abs alone: plank, bicycle, double leg lift, ball crunches, twist with weight, etc. I do some minor back stuff but not much, good point. i also do push-ups at every work out. can do about 10 man push ups, 15 girly ones. Diet is good - I eat "fresh", keeping things as close to their natural form as possible avoiding at all costs: trans and sat fat, hydrogenated anything, high fructose corn syrup and anything that has sugar in the top 5 ingredients. I'm not perfect but I have a pretty healthy "diet".
Observations..cats and scratching behavior? I was just sitting here watching my cat. She comes over, puts her front feet on my chair, and proceeds to do that scratching thing....as in, what they normally do ON THE SCRATCHING POST.......(d*mmit 'Wire!!!). I've been watching this behavior for years and I'm thinking I've overlooked something until now. Are they truly scratching in order to sharpen the nails or are they maybe stretching the toes, the feet and maybe the front legs? I ask because 'Wire has her toe nails dug into the padding of my chair completely, isn't retracting them or removing them from the chair padding, and is rocking back and forth as if she's doing cat pilates or something. Yes, I checked to see if she was stuck...she's not. Also, I've noticed that she runs to the scratching post to scratch when she's wound up and in "go" mode and then she scratches furiously. She does this other thing only when she first wakes up. Think this could be the equivalent of us stretching when we wake up? Something akin to the cute lil thing where they first lift the back and and then the front end or hunch up like an inch worm? I was just curious to know what you think it's purpose is....and save your breath...I know I've got WAY too much time on my hands!!!! (back injury...observing them is one of the only things I'm allowed to do right now...LOLOL) I highly recommend it..it's like Discovery at home channel!!
I've had bad sciatic pain since my baby's birth 2 wks ago, but had NONE of this pain during the pregnancy? i exercised regularly leading up to my baby's birth, and had no sciatic pain at all during the pregnancy. I did have lower backpain on and off. Since the birth 2 weeks ago, i've had bad sciatic pain down one leg, thats gradually gotten worse. I think i triggered it during the labour (was a quick labour but very intense with little-no pain relief) but my GP said it was more likely the days lying in the hospital bed after that triggered it. He suggested stretches (was not specific though) and walking. I've been doing this, but its not better, and worse at night (getting up constantly for the baby etc and getting comfortable in the feeding chair). How long should i wait until i see a physio? Is Pilates good for this? Why am i getting this pain NOW instead of during the pregnancy?!
what are some good workouts for the abs? i'm not that fat nor ripped. i'm a normal 141 pound person. i don't look that fat but i am chubby in the stomach area. the only workouts i know is sit-ups the ones were u turn your body left and right then go down, regular situps, push-ups which i'm terrible at, the situps with your legs off the ground and u push up with your abdominal muscles and thats pretty much it. i have been patient and have been doing these every night and its getin frustrating seeing like a ''line'' in my stomach when i sit down on my chair. can anyone tell me simple workouts that work. not yoga or pilates or just regular good ab workous.
how is this workout plan? So i'm doing a complete pilates workout routine for 1 month before my beach vacation to see if i enjoy it/it's effective. I bought a pilates book, so this is where it all came from. Morning - 15 minutes. -Preparation exercise/warm up. -The Hundred. -Roll Dowm -Single leg Circles -Rolling like a ball. -Single leg stretch. -double leg stretch. -spine stretch forward. -stretch/cool down. Then I got to work for 6-8 hours a day where all day i'm on my feet, moving, walking, crouching down. (i work at a vet hospital). Evening - 20 mins: -Preparation Exercise/warm up. -The Hundred. -Roll up. -single leg circles. -rolling like a ball .-single leg stretch. -double leg stretch. -spine stretch forward. -the wall: arm circles. -the wall: roll down -the wall: the chair. -stretches/cool down and every monday i practice jumping & dressage w/ my horse. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- too much? not enough? good? bad? let me know!! :) morning = as soon as i wake up, BEFORE i eat. evening: about 2 hours before bed. i'm 16. 5'2" 95 lbs. also, i find it really hard to do cardio because i have severe arthritis in my knees, feet, toes.
My butt is getting too big!? My butt is getting too big!? I'm a full-time student and part-time nerd, so I spend a lot of time in front of my computer. I've always been very thin but have recently started gaining weight-unfortunately most of it is going to my butt. I've started exercising, but I'd like to know if anyone knows any tricks to avoid chair-butt. I don't need to sit at my desk. I could sit on a pilates ball, or even sit cross-legged like a buddha. I could even kneel if keeps my ass from growing! Funny O, but my butt is much hairier than my face.
Can you loose wieght WITHOUT cardio...? I want to loose about 5lbs, I am not over-wieght I'm actually pretty healthy at 5'4 and 122lbs but I think I'll feel better about myself if I was like 115lbs. The thing is I take online courses - homeschool so I basically sit in a chair all day and I don't gont really go out on school days, not even for a walk. SO I have 2 pilate videos one is 11min the other one is 14min, together thats 24min. So my question is will I be able to loose wieght with going on low -calorie healthy diet - about 1200 calories, and doing pilates 4x a week? I know 1200 does seem kind of low but if I eat 1500 calories Im not going to burn it OFF since Im not going to do CARDIO, thats why my intake is LOW. So will I loose wieght? I meant weight <-- SORRY FOR THE GRAMMER GUYS!
Can sitting around a lot cause cellulite? I get homeschooled* I take online courses so all my work is done on a computer and I sit down on a chair for hours. I don't get out much or walk around at all. I try to do pilates or cardio 2-3 times a week but sometimes I just don't do any exersice. Sometimes I go a whole week without exersicing and just sitting on my butt all day. But this week I have exersiced once so far and I will exersice again today. Sometimes I'll just do things like - squats, legs extensions, sit ups or I'll shadowbox - or even do some kicks. And sometimes I'll do a video that involoves martial arts and dancing - it gets my heart rate up and I consider it cardio. So my question is - Will my cellulite get worse because of this? I have very little but can it get worse or is what I am doing fine? Is the exersice that I do enough or too little? Im 16 by the way!
is it okay if I exercise today? I am suppose to be "resting" today? all I'm doing is just sitting on my butt on the computer..I hate it..I feel lazy.. yesterday I did an intense workout, 1 hour on the elliptical the day before I took 2 pilate classes, and this whole week i've been taking pilates and exercising.. I heard your body needs rest sometimes from exercise. But I just HATE sitting down all day..I went to the store with my mom to go for a little walk.. but I figured every hour or two..I'll just get out of my chair. Do some lunges, sit ups. maybe 30 minutes on the elliptical or something. Can too much exercise be harmful for me? what if I keep it light? maybe some stretching? my muscles don't ache so I don't see the reason to rest on exercise lol..

Has anyone actually had any results from sitting on a stability ball at your desk? I am very athletic (I am a spinning instructor, teach 4 times a week, take pilates and hit the gym at least once a week) and am wondering if the myth that sitting on a stability ball instead of your chair at work will build up your abs. We have one we share at my office, and I have sat on it a few days recently, but can't say I feel anything. I know it takes time to see results, but my core muscles do not feel as though they have been worked. Has anyone actually achieved anything doing this? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
malibu pilates chair? Is it worth $345? Am I likely to lose interest in it after a month? Did you see results with it? Is it fun? How hard are the workout videos? Thanks!

Fluidity Bar OR Malibu Pilates Chair????? I am tossed with chosing the Fluidity Bar or the Malibu Pilates Chair. If someone is familiar with both of these items, which one would you choose and why? Which one would be better over all? Which one is worth the money (because both are over $200)?
